These are exciting times for ERI and its partners. We are approaching a decade of dedication to excellence in research, academic, and commercial activity. We welcome innovation, optimism, aspiration and ambition. After all, these are the qualities which have seen our own particular star rise so quickly.
We are deeply involved in research across the world. Some examples include:
UK - we have been studying the impact of peatlands and their management.
Europe – in collaboration with the University of Brno in the Czech Republic, we have progressed projects aimed at identifying universal chemical markers of oxidative stress. These can be applied to identify ecosystems under stress from environmental pollutants and physical stress such as increased light and/or temperature.
Current European knowledge transfer Projects that the ERI is involved in -
Americas – working with the National Ocean Service, Charleston, USA, we have contributed to projects focused on the identification of risks to coral communities.
Asia – in conjunction with the University of Newcastle, we have a long term project which investigates coral bleaching in Phuket, Thailand. The research is identifying biomarkers for heat and light stress.
We are utterly committed to progressive development and shaping ERI into a vibrant and dynamic centre of research expertise. We are doing that in partnership with the private sector, the public sector, and academic institutions.
To continue moving forward we will further strengthen our local, national and international connections. We will continuously apply the standard of excellence and seek solutions to environmental issues, however challenging they may be.
To be successful in these goals we need people who have the same commitment and the desire to work at an institute where there is so much opportunity.
So here is our invitation to you – whether you are a student, a business, or a research scientist with a passion for the natural environment, we believe ERI has much to offer you. The past ten years have been good ones for our aspirations, we expect there to be many more in the future. So join us in doing what we’re good at….making a world of difference.
