Education
Learning is vital to our work and our goals. That’s why we place great importance on education and training. Since opening in May 2000 we have used that relatively short period of time to firmly establish our commitment on these issues.
As a consequence we can say that aside from all our research and development, ERI is also valued at home and respected abroad because of the learning opportunities provided here.
Indeed, our work has brought about notable success through international student exchange programmes such as Socrates and Becas Faro. We have people of many nationalities already working here at ERI and seeing the benefits of our location and foresight. Indeed we are also collaborating with research, commercial and educational organisations across Europe and around the world
ERI is further involved in the delivery of HNC, HND, Degree, MSc and PhD programmes in our key research themes. These are delivered through North Highland College and UHI Millennium Institute, the emergent university for the Highlands and Islands in Scotland.
Local, UK and international students from countries such as Spain, France, Germany, Taiwan, Mauritius, Czech Republic, Russia and Denmark have already been attracted by the courses and educational prospects ERI offers.
We operate at many levels and also undertake a broad range of school-link activities with local high schools. Through effective partnerships with student, schools and parents we aim to enrich and diversify educational provision. We support secondary school education, including the STEM agenda and placements through the Nuffield Science Bursary scheme. Our work has been identified by HMIe as ‘sector leading & innovative practice…….that should be replicated, adapted and customised.’
Much of this commitment to education and training is made possible because of our range of field, analytical, IT, laboratory and conference facilities, which ensure we can undertake the necessary cutting edge research and training we have become known for.
