Welcome to the Environmental Research Institute (ERI). We are based in Caithness in the Highlands of Scotland at the heart of some world class natural resources.
Our location has the Pentland Firth, the Flow Country and the Rivers Wick and Thurso on its doorstep. These incredible natural resources enable us to deliver acclaimed research and education and training; as well as consultancy and other commercial services and knowledge exchange.
This means ERI is a hub of vital research at a time when understanding of the natural environment is of particularly high importance to the world. We currently focus on a number of priorities: renewable energy and the environment; climate change; ecology and ecosystems; biogeochemistry; emerging contaminants and ecotoxicology; as well as bio-technology and bio-resources.
We have been successful over the ten years since we were established in becoming notable players in international environmental research. We also continue to innovate and explore the opportunities our unique location in the Highlands of Scotland affords us.
If you would like to know more about these opportunities that exist for our partners, clients and students at ERI, please join us in making a world of difference and contact us.
